# 6: BROKEN

The 6th of May-Photo-A-Day: "BROKEN"

Te and I need at least one coffee fix a day: living in Craighall Park we are spoilt for choice as we are in walking distance to both Warm & Glad and 4th Avenue Roasters -we have favourite treats at both.

Saturday mornings are spent at Warm & Glad, sipping cappuccino's for Her and double macchiato's for Him. We order scramble eggs too, coriander and spring onion is delicious and fresh and the perfect breakfast to give you that glad feeling as you warm you up on a chilly Autumn morning. We have purchase most of our awesome coffee table books here and many vinyls... our collection is getting there slowly but surely. All we missing is the record player but we are on the prowl for the perfect one.

On a Sunday, depending on family gatherings, we either have breakfast at 4th Avenue Roasters or just a morning coffee and probably a late afternoon coffee fix too. Their yoghurt, honey and fruit health breakfast is really tasty as well as their scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, mushrooms and grated parmesan. We also have a coffee here most evenings together when I get home from work - best part about a coffee at 4th Avenue would be the brown sugar bite-size cookie that is delicately spiced with ginger and cinnamon.

As I am a wife in training, I thought I would attempt making these scrumptious morsels  to fill our new glass cookie jar. I am google queen and found what looks to be a similar recipe to the 4th Avenue cookies. I got home after a meeting with my future-dress-maker, crossing fingers and hoping she fits into our budget, took a quick walk to the spar to stock up on baking goods that we never had and then came home to play "perfect"-future-wife.

I kept the baking biscuits from Te when he got home, he knew there was something in the oven from the cinnamon-ginger-sugar baking smell and the mess I was cleaning... I love cleaning, not sure if I have mentioned that yet but if I were a Disney Princess I would be Cinderella.

Finally, I placed the freshly baked cookies on a makeshift rack to cool: this wanna-be wife is in need of some baking essentials! I turned around to find this broken piece and The Te munching away. "And?", TheFutureMrsOrpen asked excitedly. "Try one." He replied... Why was it when he chewed it made a sort of a sizzle? It must be hot still, so I eagerly blew on my biscuit until It was cooler.

I BROKE the recipe!! #6

For some reason the 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda that I added was far too much and resulted in the most fowl, salty tasting sizzle of crumble. I grumpily threw the remaining dough and biscuits away while Te phone his mom to tell her about another silly thing I have done: I often do and say silly things like... let's keep it for other posts.

Sorry Joy The Baker, I broke your recipe.
